The Epic and Powerful Story of Rebel in Blue
Liam English studied English and History at University College Cork which ignited his passion for writing and interest in the American Civil War – particularly the role that the Irish played in it. He worked as a head researcher for a large financial services company in the UK before moving back home to Ireland and becoming a part-time librarian. During that time, he was able to truly dedicate his time to researching for his novel, Rebel in Blue, by extensively reading and road tripping all over America to visit close to every Civil War site that comes to mind. His passion for history, writing, and Ireland is felt in every page of his novel.
Sadly, Liam passed away in September 2007 at the age of forty-seven. Liam was a kind, generous man who remains a special person to so many people that he met, knew and loved in his too-short, but much-lived, time with us. He was rarely, if ever, seen without a book(s) in his hand and now we want to put his book into the hands of others. After over a decade since his passing, the publication of Rebel in Blue is long overdue and we are dedicated to making that a reality. Liam’s dream is our dream and we hope you can join us on this journey toward publication.
Rebel in Blue is a powerful novel of love and betrayal, freedom and slavery, friendship and hatred, life and death, in times and places that shaped the futures of individuals and nations in ways that could never have been foreseen. It provides a moving and empathetic account of one man’s battle against despair along with a riveting account of the Irish Brigade in the American Civil War.
